Tile Trends for 2018
We will never get tired of the honeycomb-shaped tiles or the good and clean style of the subway tile backsplash, but let us be honest: they are not the most original options. They will never go out of style because they are classic. Here we will give you the low-down on all the coolest trends that are expected to be huge next year.
Do not order a pallet of creamy subway tiles for your next project before reading some of the suggestions we have for you below – we promise these tiles are both chic and cool.
Tainted glass tiles – Beige is making a comeback and it is expected that the neutral color will spill over into the tile industry. As a residential tile contractor, we are seeing iterations of bathrooms and kitchens being covered in glossy, cashmere-tone tiles, and we do not oppose to this, at all!
Terracotta tiles – Even though this type of tiles can give you nightmares of old 70’s installations, like it or not, the rustic, neutral tile is making a comeback. This time it is used in more modern and unexpected ways like mixed with pastel tones or in large hexagon format.
Grid colored tiles – Ranging from baby blue to dark brown, grid tiles are 2018’s answer to subway tiles from 2017. They give spaces a slightly retro feel with a decidedly modern twist. The blush pink solutions are perfect for powder rooms, don’t you think?
Colored penny round tiles – This type of tiles have been coming back around for a few years now, but this year it comes in soft, pastel shades. Using this type of tiles for small spaces gives them a softer, moodier feel.
Brickwork tiles – Subway tiles have not entirely dropped off the picture, but their 2018’s design is longer, leaner, and texturized – these clay tiles give an edgier feel. Try to take them all the way up the ceiling in your kitchen for a fresh, modern look or pair them with dark grout.
